New Owner Wanted for KeyStore Explorer

I am currently seeking a new owner for KeyStore Explorer. See this blog post for details.

What is KeyStore Explorer?

KeyStore Explorer Illustration KeyStore Explorer is a free GUI replacement for the Java command-line utilities keytool, jarsigner and jadtool. KeyStore Explorer presents their functionality, and more, via an intuitive graphical user interface.

KeyStore Explorer is written and maintained by Wayne Grant.

Highlights of KeyStore Explorer's capabilities are listed below.

Simplified Development of Secure Java

A software developer should be able to focus on the problem at hand without struggling with obtuse command-line tools. With KeyStore Explorer difficult security tasks such as key pair generation and code signing become quick and simple.

Manage KeyStores

KeyStore Explorer can be used to create and navigate KeyStores via its intuitive graphical interface. The contents of KeyStores can be created and modified, imported and exported using just a few simple dialogs.

Sign Java Code

KeyStore Explorer provides the capability to digitally sign Java applications in both JAR and J2ME "MIDlet" form.

Extensive Format Support

KeyStore Explorer supports a variety of KeyStore, key pair, private key and certificate formats. See features for a list of supported formats.

Run Almost Anywhere

KeyStore Explorer is 100% pure Java and will run on any machine that has an Oracle JRE installed. Its capabilities are therefore available on Windows, Mac, Unix and Linux.

What Does Free Really Mean?

For those familiar the terms as they apply to software: KeyStore Explorer is free as in gratis as opposed to free as in libre. Free as in beer as opposed to free as in speech.

KeyStore Explorer is not open source software. You do not have access to the source code and cannot adapt it for your own purposes.

However, you can use it for commercial and non-commercial purposes free of charge provided you abide by the terms of the End User License Agreement (EULA). Among other things, you cannot redistribute KeyStore Explorer (it must be downloaded from this site and nowhere else), sell it or attempt to reverse engineer it. In addition there is absolutely no warranty. The EULA is presented before download so review its terms before proceeding as downloading forms an agreement.
